Mark Borowiecki's NHL career may have seen him score just 15 goals, but his priority was clear: he was a force to be reckoned with when it came to dropping the gloves. With 113 fights under his belt and an impressive win percentage, Borowiecki established himself as a formidable enforcer throughout his time in the league.

Beginning his NHL journey with the Ottawa Senators in 2011, Borowiecki remained with the organization until 2020. However, his tenure with the Nashville Predators was short-lived, coinciding with the league's transition away from the "enforcer era."

As a fighter, Borowiecki frequently found himself squaring off against some of the league's biggest names. One notable adversary was Zdeno Chara, then a member of the Boston Bruins. In 2015, Borowiecki sought to make his mark by taking on Chara, but the encounter proved to be a one-sided affair. Chara effortlessly seized control, grabbing Borowiecki's sweater and leaving him with little chance from the start.

Surprisingly, the altercation did not result in fighting majors for either player, but instead, roughing penalties were assessed. Reflecting on the incident during an interview on the Coming In Hot podcast, Borowiecki admitted, "I was just trying to make a name for myself."

He further recalled,

"I'd always ask him to fight even after that one. At one point, he looked at me with that deep, deliberate voice and said, 'You just can't help yourself, can you?'"
