If you observed the pre-game warmups tonight between the Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes, you might have anticipated a brewing conflict. This is their first matchup since the incident involving Nick Cousins, and right away, it was evident that there were unresolved issues.

In the warmup session, a group of three players from the Coyotes and three from the Panthers engaged in a discussion at center ice.

Three #FlaPanthers and three #Yotes had a meeting at center ice at start of warmups.
Jason Zucker, who concussed Nick Cousins, part of meeting with Jonah Gadjovich and Ryan Lomberg.
Fight scheduled for after puck drop?

This was precisely their topic of discussion, as demonstrated when, immediately after the referee initiated the game with the opening faceoff, Ryan Lomberg from the Panthers and Jack McBain from the Coyotes started a fight by dropping their gloves. They were seriously committed to the confrontation.

Immediately after order was restored and the players set up for a subsequent faceoff, with the puck dropped by the official, Liam O'Brien of Arizona and Jonah Gadjovich of Florida chose to engage in a fight. O'Brien managed to land a few significant punches early on, prompting the officials to intervene and separate them. Gadjovich was clearly displeased with the officials' decision to break up the fight.

Anticipate additional incidents before this game concludes. In their matchup three weeks earlier, Nick Cousins from the Panthers delivered a notorious rough hit to the Coyotes' Juuso Valimaki, a move Cousins is infamous for. Zucker later retaliated with a hit on Cousins, resulting in a four-game suspension for Zucker. Cousins is not participating in tonight's game and hasn't played since Zucker's hit.
