Ex-Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron assisted in the introduction of new leaders in Beantown today, aiding the PWHL's recently established Boston team in revealing their group of captains.
Patrice Bergeron joined Hilary Knight to announce her as Boston's PWHL inaugural team captain 🤝
O Captain, My Captain.
We're thrilled to announce our captains for our inaugural season with some help from a legendary Boston captain.
"It's a historic moment," Bergeron said. "As a former captain myself in Boston, I think you're representing your teammates, you're representing your community, you're representing your fanbase but also you're a role model for the younger generation.
"I think the person I'm about to name is an amazing ambassador for women's hockey and will be an amazing representative of this team and this organization," Bergeron added.
Knight previously competed in club hockey with the Boston Blades and Les Canadiennes de Montréal in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, as well as with the Boston Pride in the National Women's Hockey League.
On Wednesday night, PWHL Boston is scheduled for their inaugural game, visiting Minnesota to hit the ice for the first time.
