The Boston Bruins offseason is set to begin, and they will have decisions to make. One of those decisions is extending their goaltender Jeremy Swayman. It appears that the Bruins are looking to trade their other goaltender Linus Ullmark and if he is dealt, they will have $20 million in cap space. The last time the Bruins had this much cap space was prior to the 2021-2022 season and the Bruins signed Taylor Hall, Tomas Nosek, Nick Foligno, Linus Ullmark, Derek Forbort, Erik Haula, and Mike Reilly.
With the Bruins making it clear that Jeremy Swayman is their number 1 goaltender, they will now look to extend him. Swayman next contract may be comparable to Juuse Saros contract that he signed in 2021. Juuse Saros signed a 4-year contract with $6 Million AAV, Swayman may get 5 years with the same AAV.
Jeremey Swayman has played in 144 games in the NHL, with a .920 save percentage, Juuse Saros had the same save percentage but with 155 NHL games played prior to signing his contract in 2021. If this contract is signed, it would give the Bruins an elite goaltender for the next 5 years and Swayman would not have to worry about a contract.
This past season, Swayman had a record of 25-10-8, with a 2.53 GAA, and a .916 save percentage and in the playoffs, he had a record of 6-5-1, with a 2.15 GAA, and a .933 save percentage. Hopefully, he can get the contract signed and will be a Bruin for the foreseeable future.
