The Hockey world is still grieving the loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau who tragically passed away Thursday night.

While most are still grieving, unfortunately some of the Blue Jackets front office has to get back to work as they might have a problem on their hands. Since Gaudreau's contract is now off the book, the Blue Jackets cap falls to $62.3 million but the NHL cap floor is set at $65 million.

"The salary cap floor in the league this season stands at $65 M and with Gaudreau's salary coming off the books, the Ohio outfit finds itself at $62,301,666 M which is to say $2,698,334 M away from being cap compliant."

Since the circumstances to this situation are nothing anyone saw coming their is a solid chance the NHL ends up giving the Blue Jackets an exemption from this rule this season given the current heartbreaking situation they are dealing with.

Hopefully the NHL gives the Blue Jackets an exemption this close to the season as it will put they in a terrible situation during an already extremely difficult time.
