NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety, George Parros announced today that Getzlaf, a former teammate and good friend will now be joining his team to monitor the safety of NHL players.

«We are thrilled to welcome Ryan as the newest member of our department," Parros said. "His accomplishments on the ice speak for themselves: he won at every level and was widely respected for being a hard-nosed and highly-skilled Player and effective leader. From his rookie NHL season in 2005 until his recent retirement, he lived and played through many of the changes our game has seen, which will provide our group with unique and valuable perspective moving forward.»

Getzlaf retired after the 2021-22 season as the Ducks all-time leading scorer in both the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. Notably, he was also the teams captain for over a decade and has continued his leadership in a different role. He has continued to be involved with the Ducks Organization since last season where he took the position of Player Development Coordinator, but he stated that he was looking to do more and be a greater impact to the game.
