The San Jose Sharks made headlines this morning as they announce that newly acquired goaltender Yaroslav Askarov has been cut and will be sent down to the AHL.

The Sharks have cut Yaroslav Askarov from training camp and have sent him down to the AHL

Askarov was one of the best goaltenders in the AHL last season and is the biggest prospect for the position across the NHL.

The young goaltender demanded a traded over the summer from the Nashville Predators after they signed Juuse Saros to a long term deal in which left little room in the roster for Askarov moving forward.

Let's recall that he had previously demanded a trade from the Nashville Predators precisely because he wanted nothing to do with playing in the American League.

While this cut comes as a big surprise since Askarov demanded a trade since he wanted to play in the NHL this season he will likely jump into a backup role with the Sharks towards the second half of the year and will be their starter next season.

Fans are now wondering if Askarov will demand another trade since he will be exactly where he did not want to earlier in the summer but at the same time, surely GM Mike Grier informed him of their plan for him before the signing.
