Following a contentious first game that even saw involvement from the Vegas Golden Knights' goalie, tensions remained high between Adin Hill and the Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk.
In a subsequent sequence, Tkachuk finds himself removed from the play due to the actions of the Knights' goalie.
After a scoring chance in the offensive zone for the Panthers, Brayden McNabb, a defenseman for the Knights, delivers a cross-check to Tkachuk, sending him crashing into the Knights' net. Shockingly, this act goes uncalled by the officials. Following the hit from behind, Tkachuk becomes the target of harassment by the Knights' goaltender. The goalie takes a few shots at the Panthers' forward before swinging his stick paddle at Tkachuk.
There is no denying that Tkachuk may have instigated the situation by attempting to push Hill and free himself from the net or by retaliating. However, it is crucial to note that this reaction was provoked by Adin Hill boxing him into the net, initiating the altercation. Surprisingly, all of this unfolds without any penalties being assessed, right in plain sight of a referee. Consequently, the Vegas Golden Knights capitalize on the ensuing play, extending their lead to two goals.
The play should have been halted, with either Adin Hill, or both participants, being subject to penalties such as roughing or slashing, depending on the appropriate infraction. The fact that the entire incident goes uncalled, particularly in front of a referee, is simply outrageous.
