Following Linus Ullmark's 2023 Vezina Trophy win, Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney was questioned about the possibility of reuniting Ullmark with Jeremy Swayman.
Sweeney's optimism regarding the return of the entire team has been limited this offseason, having already traded Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno.
Regarding the Ullmark-Swayman tandem, Sweeney had this to say:
"Congratulations to Linus, the Vezina Trophy winner," said Sweeney. "Jeremy was a valuable partner in winning the Jennings. We performed well in the regular season, but fell short as a team in the playoffs, and they were part of that. Currently, our indications are leaning towards running it back, unless unforeseen circumstances arise. However, I must fulfill my duties as opportunities present themselves, especially considering the intriguing goalie market."
During his pre-draft media availability, Sweeney was asked if there would be any more salary cap-clearing trades following the earlier trades involving Ullmark and Hall. Sweeney firmly responded with a "No."
While it may not be an easy task to retain Linus Ullmark while also re-signing Tyler Bertuzzi, Sweeney's recent moves suggest a likelihood of both players remaining with the team
