Mike Millbury recently discussed what happened at the time on an episode of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast. Apparently - according to Millbury - Orr's agent, Dan Eagleson, concealed a significant contract detail from Orr. See below:
The Bruins dropped their offer from $4 million per season for 10 years, to $295K and 18.6% ownership of the team after concerns about Orr's multiple knee surgeries.
Eagleson declined the new offer without even informing Orr, who later signed with the Chicago Blackhawks. It just so happened that Eagleson was close friends with Hawks owner Billy Wirtz.
