Brad Marchand and Connor Bedard represent distinctly different player archetypes and bring unique values to their respective teams. Marchand, from the Bruins, is known for his tough, gritty style of play that focuses on winning games by unsettling opponents. On the other hand, Bedard of the Blackhawks is a bona fide scorer, winning games through his extraordinary goal-scoring ability, a mark of his generational talent.

In an early-season matchup between the Bruins and the Blackhawks, Marchand did his utmost to rattle Bedard, playing into his well-known strategy of psychological gameplay:

That wasn't the only tactic Marchand used in an effort to disrupt 'Bedsy's' performance; he also stirred things up earlier in the year with some contentious remarks about him:

Three months after that incident and Marchand's remarks, Connor Bedard unfortunately suffered an injury in Friday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

Subsequent to Bedard's injury and his exit from the game, comments from Brad Marchand surfaced on social media, posted at 10:48 PM following the conclusion of the game:

""THE YOUNG GUYS ARE GETTING THE ATTENTION NOW. THERE'S A LOT OF FLASHY YOUNG GUYS COMING TO THE LEAGUE... BEDARD'S A HECK OF A PLAYER FOR HIS AGE, BUT SID'S ONE OF THE BEST TO EVER PLAY THE GAME, ONE OF THE TOP COUPLE PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE NOW AND BEDARD PROBABLY GETS MORE ATTENTION THAN ANYBODY."

Marchand expressed his views.

While Marchand has the right to his personal perspective, his comment suggesting that Bedard receives excessive attention after his injury can be seen as an unfair criticism.
