Bruins Rival Going to Steal Trade Deadline Target?

The March 8th trade is approaching. There are numerous trade deadline targets for tams, and as we get further into the season and more teams fall out of contention the deadline targets will become clearer. Who will be buyers? Who will be sellers? The Calgary Flames, a surprisingly let down team this year, has a myriad of talent on their roster but the team has not been able to pull it together this year. They have been locked in as sellers since the second month of season.

While Elias Lindholm right now is the top trade target, the Flames have a top line defenseman also available in Noah Hanifin. Hanifin would fortify any defense he steps into and can make an immediate impact defensively for the team that acquires in. According to NHL Insider David Pagnotta, the New Jersey Devils are looking currently into trade talks for Hanifin.

The Devils are a logical choice looking for defensive help with Dougie Hamilton out with a long-term injury. Pagnotta had this to say on the subject:

"As we've reported this week, the Calgary Flames have been engaged in trade talks involving some of their players, including � and more specifically � their defensemen. Noah Hanifin, ranked No.2 on the TFP Trade Watch List, has been on a few teams' radars, including the New Jersey Devils. Trade talks seem to be ongoing, and this could be something that materializes leading up to the deadline, if not much sooner."

Hanifin would be able to produce top line minutes and play both powerplay and penalty Kill. This would be a great find for the Devils, also stealing him away from another team such as the Bruins who could be looking to bolster their defense in front of both of their star goalies.
