The Bruins managed to secure a 3-1 victory over the Panthers in the first game, but they had to do it without their captain, Patrice Bergeron, who's been struggling with an illness.

During the team's optional skate on Tuesday morning, head coach Jim Montgomery offered an update on Bergeron's condition.

Not on the Ice Yet

Joe Haggerty from Boston Hockey Now reported:

''Patrice Bergeron is feeling better and is 'questionable'' for Game 2, according to Jim Montgomery. He won't skate with the team today.''

While it's worrisome that Bergeron hasn't resumed skating yet, ensuring he's at full strength - or close to it - is crucial. The Bruins' depth was on display as they clinched game one without their captain.

Game two will take place on Wednesday night at TD Garden.
