Despite being on the ice at the beginning of practice, Brad Marchand was nowhere to be found after Jim Montgomery removed him halfway through.

The Bruins were back on the ice Saturday morning, with the team deciding to have an intense pre-playoff practice. Marchand, the seasoned veteran, was eager to participate despite experiencing some minor discomfort.

Mystery Solved

Montgomery, however, put a stop to that, as he later explained to the press:

''Marchy wanted to give it a try today. He had a little bit of soreness, so I said, Get off the ice.' ''

Just like they did with captain Patrice Bergeron, Montgomery and his staff are taking extra precautions as they head into the postseason, which begins on Monday night.

Fans can rest easy, though, as the winger fully participated in Sunday's morning skate. True to form, Marchand light-heartedly brushed off his absence, joking that he was just ''other than being old.''
