Brandon Bussi is setting his sights to take Jeremy Swayman's starting job

With Jeremy Swayman unsigned, there is a good chance Bruins prospect Brandon Bussi will be backing up Joonas Korpisalo when the season commences, which could be the opportunity he has been waiting for.
Before free agency started, Bussi was one of the many young players signed. Bussi was undrafted after playing for Western Michigan University. Th26-year-old prospect has now played 2 full seasons in the AHL for the Providence Bruins and with not many expectations going his way, he has really impressed
In his first season with Providence, he was a stellar first pro season in 2022-23 with a 22-5-4 record and a .924 SV% which ranked in the Top 5 in the AHL. Last season, he had another good season going 23-10-5 with a .914 SV%. He played in four AHL playoff games with a .922 SV%.
With his stellar play in the AHL, he will be competing and pushing for a roster spot due to Swayman not being signed, and we have seen in the past young goalies make the most of their opportunities and become NHL stars.
