Bruins announce bad news regarding current contract situation with Swayman

Bruins expected goaltender Jeremy Swayman to sign an extension with Boston one Linus Ullmark was traded but the situation seems to be a little more complicated than first assumed.
Swayman is looking for an AAV of $9 million and with Joonas Korpisalo now on the cap at a $3 million, the Bruins only have $8.6 million of available cap space. This means they will have to make another trade before they can offer Swayman a proper extension.
DuPont suggests that while the Boston Bruins have $8.6 million in cap space, they still may have to make a trade to free up a bit more room in order to sign goaltender Jeremy Swayman.

This is unfortunate for the Bruins as it puts them in an awful position since they have to sign Swayman since they no longer have any other option and gives the goaltender the upper hand in the negotiations.
It will be interesting to see what kind of deal Swayman and the Bruins agree too, if they do at all.
