Bruins fans have been worrying all off-season regarding Jeremy Swayman's contract extension as they only have $8.6 million in cap space and he wants $9 million.

While there is some reasons t worry such as the fact that they decided to trade Linus Ullmark before closing a deal with Swayman, the Bruins have seen similar issues in the past.

In 2006, the Bruins were in the same situation with Patrice Bergeron who was an RFA after his second season in the NHL. The Bruins ended up closing a deal with Bergeron at the end of the off-season on a 5 year contract.

Things then went quiet for more than a month. A deal did eventually get done between the Bruins and Bergeron when the two sides agreed to a five-year, $23.75 million contract on August 22.

Clearly there is still time before the season begins and that the relationship between the two parties begins to sour.
