On the most recent episode of Friedman's podcast '32 Thoughts', he provided an update on where each of the two parties sit in regards to signing a deal.
With camp only a couple of weeks away, it seems the Bruins are doing what they can with the cap space they have left, but Swayman and his agent are sitting firm on what they feel he is worth. The Bruins obviously feel there is some risk involved with offering a huge contract, but as Friedman emphasized, it does not take away the faith they have in him.
Swayman competed in 44 games last season with the Bruins collecting a .916 save percentage and a 2.53 goals-against average where he eventually took over as Boston's starting goalie in the 2024 playoffs. With Linus Ullmark now with the Ottawa Senators, Swayman will be asked to increase his workload to 55-60 games or more, which is far above what he is used to in the past. This is where the Bruins still want to assess his capabilities before committing to the AAV Swayman wants.
