Pierre Lebrun of TSN reported that the 35-year-old veteran is still looking for a contract for the 2024-2025 season, and revealed he is in talks with a few teams but nothing is confirmed.
Following the report by LeBrun, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shed some light on his true interested which is to sign with a Stanley Cup contender. More specifically he has his sights set on joining Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers in order to make another run this season.
It used to be the trend the players would avoid signing in Edmonton due to their lack of success and terrible climate, but the trend has clearly reversed itself with their recent success and superstar lineup.
In 61 games last season with the Boston Bruins, he scored 6 goals and 18 assists for 24 points while only averaging around 16 minutes of ice-time. If he plays this season, he will pass a major career mile stone appearing in his 1,000 career game.
In 952 career games across 7 NHL teams, He has scored 103 career goals and 484 points. Kevin Shattenkirk is a former 1st-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2007.
