While the majority of the spots on the roster are already taken, some players such as Georgii Merkulov are forcing the Bruins to make some unexpected changes to fit him into their game plan moving forward.
Merkulov has been on fire so far throughout training camp and has played in both pre season games so far, putting up an assist in each game proving that he can play at the NHL level.
Boston seems to be quite stacked at the center position which is where Merkulov plays but with how he has been playing so far, they might end up making room for him this season.
Last night against the Capitals, the young prospect stood out once again taking the puck end to end before making a beautiful drop pass as he was going behind the net to Bruins forward Justin Brazeau who parked the puck in the back of the net.
Clearly Merkulov is ready for the NHL after leading the Providence Bruins in the AHL in scoring last season as a 21 year old, the real dilemma continues to be, where can they fit him into the lineup for the start of the season and if they can where will he play?
