As we enter the home stretch of the 2023-2024 NHL season, the Bruins will be looking to bring some depth to their lineup in the form of trades. Most reports suggest that a defenseman will be at the top of the list of needs, but with rookie center Matt Poitras undergoing season ending shoulder surgery, the team could certainly use some forward support as well. That help could come in the form of Washington Capitals forward Nic Dowd.
Dowd has played in the NHL since 2016 and although he has never been a superstar when it comes to goal scoring and offensive production, he has remained a reliable two-way player throughout his career and is considered by some to be a top 10 defensive forward in the league. At 6-foot-1 and 190+ pounds, Dowd brings a physical presence to the ice that could really benefit the Bruins as the tougher style of hockey picks up towards the end of the regular season and into the postseason.
