It was a big night for players trying to standout and crack the Bruins roster, Riley Tufte, Fabian Lysell, Patrick Brown, and Justin Brazeau all scored big goals for the Bruins, and they were not dirty/greasy ones that were netted in game one vs the New York Rangers.
Jim Montgomery announced that newcomer Joonas Korpisalo and Michael DiPietro were going to be splitting the net this evening. Korpisalo was given the nod to start the game, He managed to stop 7 out of 7 shots before giving up the net for DiPietro, who took over at 10:02 of the second period.
Michael DiPietro on the other hand had a different narrative. He played fairly well as he faced 15 shots and gave up 2 goals, most notably, he let the first shot he faced in on a bouncing puck that found a rebound opportunity.
The biggest story line that came out of game #2 was top prospect Fabian Lysell, he looked like a completely different player out on the ice as he was basically invisible in game 1. He managed to draw a tripping penalty in the corner to give the B's a 5 on 3 advantage, just moment slater, he managed to show quick hands and snipe a big powerplay goal from the top of the faceoff circle to put the Bruins up 2-0.
Montgomery challenged Lysell before the game and even though he claimed he did not see the comments on social media, he definitely stepped up to the plate.
