At last seasons trade deadline, Johansen was was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to Flyers which seemed like a good move as the Avs got defenseman Sean Walker and a fifth-round pick in 2026, and the Flyers got a veteran forward who still has a lot left in the tank. Unfortunately, he did not appear in a single game for the Flyers as he was placed on the long-term injured list with a hip injury.
The Flyer announced in August that they were planning to terminate his contract in regards to "material breach", which does not mean much to fans, and to us either. His agent was surprised that after working so closely together on getting him back to playing, that they would let him go.
Johansen and his agent both feel he was cut from the tea, wrongfully as they will be contesting the reason for the Flyers decision.
