According to reports, the Boston Bruins are still interested in adding more players on a PTO to see them compete for a job at this years training camp, but the Jeremy Swayman situation is putting a lot of these moves on hold.
Blake Wheeler and Kailer Yamamoto have been linked to the Bruins for over a month now, and with the recent signing of Tyler Johnson, they are looking to at least 1 more player to that list.
If Wheeler signs with Boston, it will mark his second stint with the organization. At 38-years-old, Wheeler is at the tail end of his career but still has a lot to offer as a veteran presence in the locker-room and can be a solid addition to the bottom-6 forward group. He played 54 games for the New York Rangers last season scoring just 9 goals and 12 assists for 21 points.
Yamamoto is a different story as he is entering his prime at 25-years-old. Although he had a down year last season with the Seattle Kraken, he could be looking for a bounce back year to get back to his career-highs set in 2021-2022 where he scored 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points with the Oilers. The Bruins could be just the team and change of scenery he needs to get back into form.
