Koskinen was drafted 31st overall by the New York Islanders in 2009 but only appeared in 4 games and spent the better part of 3 years in the AHL for the Bridgeport Soundtigers. Unable to crack the NHL roster, he went and played 6 season overseas in the KHL, but did end up coming back to North America.
In 2018, the Edmonton Oilers gave him a shot and was in a goalie tandem with Mike Smith. Over his 6-year NHL career and 168 games, he accumulated a record of 85-60, a .906 save % and a 3.01 goals against average.
Koskinen has spent the last 2 season over in te Swiss-A league and at 36 years old, he decided to hang up the skates and go to represented young hockey player as an agent.
