The Washington Capitals team were at the rink for a casual skate but things took a bad turn just moments into the session.
New reports have confirmed that NHL legend Alex Ovechkin left the rink and headed to the locker room with an injury that is causing fans to speculate if he can break Wayne Gretzky's goal scoring record.
Ovi is only 42 goals away from beating the record set by the greatest of all time, and there was a solid chance he could break it if he had a good season this year. In 2023-2024 he scored 31 goals in 79 games but in 2022-2023 he netted 42 goals in 73 games.
Obviously there has been a steady decline season after season at age 39. Nonetheless, Ovi will play until he breaks it, whether it is this season or next, he is so close, his body just needs to comply in order for it too happen.
Do you think Ovechkin will beat Gretzky's record this season?
