Surely the NHL Player Safety Committee will look at this to see is further punishment is necessary. The committee has been very up and down this year in terms of punishments (see how easy Brendan Gallagher of Montreal got off earlier this year).
The Jets will defend Dillon saying he was finishing his check and Acciari while trying to avoid the check, put himself in a position where Dillon couldn't avoid the head. At real time seed it is hard to see whether Dillon could really avoid the contact, but we have seen before the NHL drop the hammer on these types of plays, while also going to lenient route as well.
The Jets will definitely be hearing from the league tomorrow about this hit however, more to come.
