Sportsnet is making headlines again for all the wrong reason as they have decided to fire long-time reporter Christine Simpson amidst the Jeff Marek scandal that has fueled many rounds of layoffs.

After multiple decades working for the renowned network, she made a long post on social media reminiscing on her time and the love she had for her job there.

1/2 As my time at Sportsnet comes to an end I can't help but feel grateful for my experience. Since we went to air in 98 it's been my absolute privilege to cover the NHL. Meeting so many men & women in the game & sharing their stories brought me more joy than you can imagine..

Sportsnet replied to her on X (formally Twitter) post thanking for her years of service and for paving a path for young female reporters to excel in the sports industry.

At age 59, Christine Simpson started her broadcasting career when Rogers Sportsnet launched in 1998. Before long, she became one of the more recognizable faces in hockey as a reporter and hosting "Showtime with Chris Simpson."

The reason for her firing have not been disclosed to the public yet but there will be more updates and clarification on the matter.

She will be missed...
