A big trade rumor has just surfaced regarding the Boston Bruins trading Swayman to the Anaheim Ducks
With the Jeremy Swayman standoff in full swing, there is no contract in sight as both are standing firm on what they want. A trade is clearly unlikely right now, but if this saga drags on well into the season, who know what can happen.
NHL Insider and respected analyst Elliotte Friedman brought up the idea that the team could grow tired of Swayman's demands and could consider trading him, but if so, what team and return makes sense for the star RFA?
Bruins manager Don Sweeney mentioned that December 1st is a solid time frame for a deadline that would see Swayman sign. Although rare for contract negotiations to go that far into the season, Swayman's agent also represents Maple Leafs star William Nylander, who also held out until around that time.
What If The Bruins Decide to Trade Swayman?
Per The Athletic, if the price and return is right, he believes that there is strong possibility the Ducks decide to move on from goaltender John Gibson. There have been many rumors surrounding Gibson being on the trade block, and if the Swayman holdout continues, this would be a very plausible option for both teams. The Ducks are no where near a playoff team and could afford having Swayman hold out for what he wants with them, and for the Bruins, Gibson is a competent and comparable goalie that can bring them to the next level, especially with out Ullmark. Gibson only holds an AAV of $6 million and for the price it seems like it could be a no brainer.
