Amidst reports, Jim Montgomery forgot to inform Joonas Korpisalo he is the Bruins starting goalie
The Boston Bruins management addressed the media today and informed them Joonas Korpisalo will be the teams starting goalie come the regular season, but no one decided to let him know that.
«We're getting late enough into camp that it's unlikely that Jeremy would be in a position,» general manager Don Sweeney said. «Today's a new day hopefully bridge the gap that still exists.»
With the contract problems the Bruins and Jeremy Swayman are facing, there is a major question mark on who the two netminders will be come October 8th when they face off against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. It was reported earlier today by head coach Jim Montgomery that Korpisalo will be the teams go to guy, but Korpisalo has disclosed that no one has told him anything.
It seems like a major oversight on either Jim Montgomery or general manager Don Sweeny to not inform Korpisalo personally on their decision to name him their starter. Instead, he had to find out from reporters in the locker room after practice. It seemed like he took what the reporters were saying with a grain of salt as he is not going to assume what they are telling him is gospel until he hears it from his own coaches mouth.
