After captain Brad Marchand was removed from his first preseason game of the season due to an undisclosed illness, the Boston Bruins have provided an important update on his condition.

Bruins fans were quite concerned when Marchand missed a shift in the first period, but later returned, but were even more worried that he was removed from the game and didn't come back. Marchand played just over 4-minutes of ice time before he left the Bruins bench.

The main concern was that it was not known if him leaving the ice was related to his 3 offseason surgeries, but the team did confirm quickly his exit was not related and that's it's a completely separate issue.

Brad Marchand on making his preseason debut tonight vs. the Flyers: "I feel really good. Much better than I did a month ago. Excited about getting back out there with the guys."

Brad Marchand Update

Jim Montgomery nonetheless provided a reassuring update on the two-time All-Star after his team's 4-1 win over Philadelphia.

"He wasn't feeling good two days ago, and when he showed up this morning, he felt good," Montgomery told reporters. "Maybe it came back; 24-hour bug, now a 12-hour bug. He'll be fine."

It's reassuring to know that the illness is nothing serious and not related to any of his surgeries he underwent, it seems like he will be back in action in no time.
