With Jake DeBrusk heading to the Canuck's this offseason, there are still major question marks on who will step up and fill that role this season. Youngsters like Poitras or Lysell have the opportunity to step up, but their game is still unknown fully at the NHL level.
GM Don Sweeny could bring back Kessel on a PTO to asses where his game is, if all goes well, the Bruins could be pleasantly surprised with a veteran sniper who can score goals 5 v 5 and on the power play.
There is not much risk involved singing him to a tryout, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out, the upside is far greater than the risk.
