Korpisalo got the nod to play the full 60 minutes against the Flyers and he continued to impress, but the Bruins took way too many penalties thar resulted in too many scoring opportunities that resulted in the loss.
Bruins newcomer had a masterful performance giving a lots of confidence that he can push the Bruins forward during the regular season, he made 37 saves on 40 shots which should have been enough to get the win. While he kept them firmly in the game, the team ran into penalty problems.
Boston had a 8 penalties for a combined total of 19 penalty minutes as they continually found themselves on their heels trying to defend in their own zone. When you look at it this way, they spent almost an entire period, or 1/3 of the game shorthanded, which is clearly a recipe for disaster, and Korpisalo can only do so much to keep them in the game. Nonetheless, the B's were able to kill off six of its seven chances on the penalty kill but the momentum Cleary swung in the flyers favor.
Through his 2 preseason games, Korpisalo has 44 saves, an astounding 1.91 goals against average and .936 save percentage.
