Roster Update: Boston Bruins recall top prospect Fabian Lysell from Providence
After the big disappointment of being cut after only three preseasons games, the Boston Bruins have recalled top forward prospect Fabian Lysell from Providence of the AHL.
Many fans were stunned when they sent Lyell and Merkulov down to the AHL so soon before they even had a chance to fully prove themselves, This roster move by no means guarantees Lysell's spot for opening night, but he now has a second chance at making it possible.
Don Sweeney alluded to this possibility Monday. He stressed that the training camp roster was still very much in the works and the evaluation process was continuing.
Many fans believed that this would be Lysell's year, that he would start the season with the Boston Bruins and replace the hole that Jake DeBrusk's left after signing with the Vancouver Canucks in the offseason. Bruins GM made it clear that no matter how well you played in the AHL, he wasn't going to hand out the role to just anyone, they need to earn in camp and preseason.
Regardless of if Lyell doesn't start the regular season off with the team, he will forsure get some looks through out the year, where it is all about jumping on those opportunities when you get them.
