According to reports, the first organized hockey league was formed in the 1890's by all colored men in Nova Scotia, Canada. Fans were surprised about the news since this is not common information that is ever spoken of.
Despite the first league being created by colored men, the first player of color to enter the NHL was the Bruins Willie O'Ree in 1958.
While the information regarding this league is out there, fans have questioned why the NHL and the sport of hockey does not acknowledge this more.
