Two night's ago, Montreal Canadiens newest forward Patrik Laine took an extremely dirty knee on knee for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Cedric Pare.

Laine was skating with the puck into the Maple Leafs zone when Pare decided to step up and as Laine moved out of the way of the hit, Pare stuck his knee out for a knee on knee collision.

Honestly, this is absolutely disgusting from the Leafs.

The entire intention here was to hurt Patrik Laine.

This is not a hockey play.

Laine's new teammates Arber Xhekaj did not take too kindly to the hit and decided to go after pare, jumping him which resulted in a total of 27 penalty minutes for the Habs defenseman. Xhekaj received the maximum fined alone by the new CBA rules which is a little bit over $3000.

The 5PM deadline hit yesterday afternoon regarding a possible fine or suspension for Pare and since now news was announced, it looks like the Maple Leafs players will not be penalized for his dirty hit.

As the 5PM deadline for the NHL department of player safety to make a ruling has passed, Toronto's Cedric Pare will not receive any supplemental discipline for his hit on Patrik Laine.

Habs fans were not pleased with this decision from the NHL since their player was fined for the maximum amount while Pare who went out of his way to make this dirty knee on knee hit did not receive a suspension or fine.
